Standard configuration SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle manufactured at the Tula arsenal in 1940. The top of the receiver is stamped with a star over "1940". C.D.I. import stamp is present on the right side of the receiver, followed by the importer applied serial number. Arsenal applied matching numbers are present on the receiver, bolt carrier, bolt, trigger guard, gas cylinder, and stock. Magazine does not match. Rifle is accompanied by a Russian canvas web sling, oiler, pin punch tool, and cleaning rod jag. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, exhibiting few and minor marks from handling and storage. Bore is good, showing moderate oxidation within the lands and retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Scot shows few and minor impressions from storage and handling, with some areas of minor flaking to the varnish. A nice example of an important Soviet semi-automatic battle rifle that proved to have a sizeable impact on European semi-automatic rifle designs. MLW
