Standard configuration SVT-40 semi-automatic rifle manufactured at the Tula arsenal in 1942. The top of the receiver bears a star over "1942" Small soviet arsenal proofs are present on various external components. C.D.I. import stamp is present on the right side of the receiver, followed by the importer applied serial number. Receiver and stock match, with the trigger guard, bolt carrier, and bolt matching via an electro-penciled applied serial number. Magazine does not match. Complete with a Russian canvas web sling, oiler, pin punch, and cleaning rod jag. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their arsenal reapplied blue finish, showing a few handling and storage marks, with some areas of oxidation present beneath the finish. Good bore, showing moderate oxidation in the lands and retaining well-defined rifling throughout. Stock is excellent, showing few handling and storage marks overall. A nice example of an important Soviet semi-automatic battle rifle that proved to have a sizeable impact on European semi-automatic rifle designs. MLW
