Standard configuration SKS semi-automatic rifle manufactured at the Tula Arsenal in 1953. Receiver cover bears the Tula arrow within a star emblem above "1953r". Receiver cover and right side of buttstock bear Russian arsenal refurbishment stamps. "NHM" import stamp is present on the left side of the receiver. Small Soviet arsenal proofs are present on most exterior components. Original arsenal numbers are matching on the receiver, receiver cover, bolt carrier, bolt, magazine cover, trigger guard, and stock. Former stock serial number is partially visible. Piston, gas cylinder, and extractor are electro-penciled to match. Spike type bayonet, cleaning rod, and butt trap cleaning kit are present. Complete with a Russian canvas web sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain virtually all of their arsenal reapplied finish, exhibiting some light silvering in the usual areas from disassembly. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Stock is very good as arsenal refurbished, exhibiting few and minor impressions overall. A nice high condition example of an early SKS rifle.
