Circa 1884. An exposed hammered safari grade black powder .500 caliber express double rifle with 26" blued dovetail steel barrels. Barrels are fit extractors, wide hand filed rib, doll's head extension, filed standing and folding rear sight (folding sight indicated regulated out to 200 yards). Both with silver sight line. Rib also with ramped bladed front sight, with gold flip up sight and bottom rib with sling swivel. Barrels read "1 CONDUIT STREET REGENT STREET LONDON", "REGULATED BY" on right, left barrel reads "J & W TOLLEY MAKERS" & "ALEX R HENRY, EDINBURG". The recently re-case colored hammer action has been built with a Jones Underlever, case colored double triggers and long dog eared hammers which are checkered. The
non-rebounding hammers can be set to the half cock position. The straight grained honey blond restock with sharp checkered round knob semi pistol grip is checkered over wrist and has a decoratively scored cap and bottom screw. Stock also with sling swivel and scored butt. Stock also with case colored and engraved top tang. Triggers are protected by a blued, scroll engraved trigger guard with bottom strap. Bottom strap with serial number "6788" engraved. Original dark walnut splinter forend with Deeley style latch release and fine checkering. Rifle resides in a newer full length green canvas case with leather corners, straps and handle. Interior case lid with "ALEXANDER HENRY" paper trade label. Case supplied with cleaning tools and equipment and leather stock extension. CONDITION: Fair. Barrels retain mainly all their reblack. Exterior barrel engraving is worn. Rifling is good. Action and triggers are sound. Top strap with evidence of repair. Stock is good with some evidence of use. Forend with some handling marks to exterior, visible repair to interior of tip, at rear and also slightly frayed edges. Case is good with light handling marks from storage. CP
