Lot consists of 2 Civil War era knives. (A) Spearpoint etched blade Bowie knife. Stag handle. German silver shield escutcheon on reverse grip. "Crooks and Slater / celebrated / cutlery" at reverse ricasso. 1 - 1/2" false edge. Reverse blade etched with Indian hunter in woodland or everglades shooting at long-necked bird. CONDITION: Good. Etching is light, but visible. Very tip of blade missing. Obverse with gray spotting at tip ricasso and polishing, scratches. (B) Folding knife, spearpoint with false edge. Grips wood grip with rectangular escutcheon reverse. Hairline glue repaired crack obverse rear. Reverse ricasso, "George / Wolstenholm / Sheffield." "IXL" partially obscured by shallow pitting, with some freckling at point. Blade otherwise muted silver mixed with some blue gray, but smooth metal. CONDITION: Good to very good.
