Pre Ban Colt SP1 semi automatic rifle. Made 1972. Left side of the magazine well is marked with a rampant Colt pony next to "COLT/AR-15", all above "CAL. .223/MODEL SP1/SER. SP23335". Early company address on the left side of the lower. Bottom of the barrel is marked "C MP B". Forge codes on the right side of the upper. Bolt is correctly marked "C". Round steel barrel with full cage flash hider and bayonet lug. Standard post front sight and adjustable two position flip rear. Original phosphate finish on the metal components. Factory polymer furniture with the iconic triangular forearm. Plastic butt plate with trapdoor. Includes a factory 20 round magazine. manual for a later Sporter II rifle, and a black nylon sling. CONDITION: Metal retains 95% of its original finish with a few scuffs and scratches. Furniture has a few scuffs and scratches as well, but is excellent overall. Bore is shiny with crisp rifling. Mechanically fine. Magazine has light wear. Sling is excellent. Of note, this rifle will become Curio and Relic eligible on January 1st 2022! JWA
