This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/17/2021
The Model 76 was originally designed and produced by Smith & Wesson to compensate for the U.S. Navy Seals lack of imported Swedish M/45 submachine guns during the Vietnam War. This example bears the Smith & Wesson logo on the right hand side to the rear of the magazine well, with the opposite side of the well bearing Smith & Wesson's manufacturing information. The left side of the receiver is stamped "SMITH & WESSON" with the right being stamped "MOD. 76" followed by the serial number. Selector is stamped "Full", "SEMI", and "SAFE" on either side of the receiver. Features include a matte gray finish, 8" barrel, full-length perforated barrel shroud, standard fixed front and rear sights, ambidextrous safety selector, 2-piece checkered black plastic grip, as well as a side-folding stock. Side-folding stock features a black rubber coating, providing additional control and comfort for the operator. This example is accompanied by four additional magazines, three of which being wrapped in protective wax paper. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their factory-applied matte grey finish, exhibiting some small scattered superficial handling marks that show through to light silvering, as well as usual spot of silvering from operation of the selector switch. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Black plastic grip shows some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. A very attractive and high condition example of a Smith & Wesson Model 76, that has spawned numerous clones and copies since the end of its production. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4. MLW
