Lot consists of excavated bayonets, gun barrels, and scabbards excavated at various Civil War sites with find locations noted on tags. Includes 8 socket bayonets: Lorenz, M1816, 2 Enfield, M1842, 3 M1855, some full length, some partial. 1 M1855 turned into pot hook. 2 shortened musket barrels. 1 CS saber scabbard, bent in one spot and bent and broken in another, showing crude lapped seam. 1 metal saber bayonet scabbard identified as M1855, but a post-War foreign intrusion. Find locations include Wilderness, Fairfax Station, Appomattox. The Confederate scabbard was found at the latter location and the collector note indicates it was likely destroyed on purpose to avoid surrendering it. CONDITION: Excavated. A nice weapons grouping with a significant Appomattox scabbard.
