Classic Steyr manufactured MP-40 machine gun with visible numbers matching except bolt. Electronic registry indicates "Unknown" as manufacturer. Marked "bnz 43" on end cap with numerous Nazi proof marks throughout. Receiver exhibits "WaA623" (Steyr). Serial number is 100b making is very early 1943 manufacture at Steyr. Eagle over swastika firing proof on barrel. Bolt is Steyr manufactured. Barrel resting bar is bakelite with original casting number on bottom. 1 original 32-round magazine is included with this gun. There is brown epoxy type repair to the right grip panel even with and below the trigger guard. The MP40 was designed to be a compact burst fire weapon originally intended for dismounted vehicle and armor troops but as time passed it was fielded in ever increasing numbers to all unit formations. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is fine original blue finish thinning and turning to a brown patina, particularly at the high edges. Sliding bolt handle has been “dinged” inward but still functions. Bore is very good with shiny rifling and some roughness at the 1 o’clock position. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a fully automatic only machine gun. A very nice original gun with finish consistent with field use. Fine World War II collectible with honest vintage wear, and what may well be bullet strike damage to grip panel. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
