Unusual Grothe and Son "RIB" drilling or what is known as a "Scheinen Drilling" with a rifle barrel on top of a side by side shotgun. Gun has typical German Pre-World War II Crown over U proofs with 26 -3/4" Nitro proofed blued Krupp Steel barrels fitted with matted rib, claw mounts, dual rear sights, extractors, blade front sight and Kersten Style locking mechanism. Barrels are chambered for 8x57JR over 16 gauge. Boxlock scroll engraved action with unusual external hinge, fitted with double triggers with front being a set, side safety and top tang barrel selector. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, horn grip cap and checkered steel buttplate. Walnut checkered splinter forend with latch release. CONDITION: 90% original blue with light handling marks with action fading to a silvery patina. Wood has been cleaned with light scratches and dents and a coat of linseed oil applied long ago.
