Egyptian Contract FN-49 semi automatic rifle. Made circa 1950s in Belgium at FN, on contract for Egypt. Standard Belgian markings on the right side of the receiver. Nice Egyptian crest on the chamber. No visible import mark. Egyptian applied serials on the receiver and dust cover do not match. Brass stock disc on the right side of the stock with Arabic markings. Wrist of the stock has a small Belgian "(Crown)" cartouche. Standard barrel nut covering the threads. Blade front sight with rear peep ladder adjustable to 1,000 meters. Factory applied military blued finish on the metal components. Stock was lightly sanded at some point and has a light oil finish. Brass metal butt plate with trap door. Includes consignor summary. CONDITION: Metal retains 75% of its original finish with most areas starting to form a brown patina. There is some light surface rust on the rear sight. Stock has a few handling marks and scratches. There is an arsenal repair behind the front band, and a repair on the left side above the magazine. Bore is lightly frosted with very good overall rifling. Mechanically fine. JWA
