AR-180 semi-automatic rifle manufactured by Sterling Armaments Company in England for ArmaLite between 1979-1985. The left side of the receiver bears stampings stipulating the manufacturer, model, and caliber that are followed by "MFG. FOR/ ARMALITE, INC./ COSTA MESA, CALIF./ U.S.A./ BY/ STERLING ENGLAND". Bottom of barrel bears British nitro proofs. 1-piece grip is marked "AR-18/ ArmaLite" within a circle on either side. Features include a black finish, 18" 3-prong flash hider, ambidextrous safety, side folding polymer buttstock, as well as a ventilated polymer handguard, and smooth polymer pistol grip. Rifle is accompanied by 4 Thermold D. & D. Inc. magazines. CONDITION: Metal components retain the majority of their black finish, exhibiting scattered handling marks all around with the usual area of silvering on the right side of the receiver from operation of the selector. Bore is bright and exhibits good rifling throughout. Polymer furniture shows some scattered handling marks, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. A nice example of a rare and desirable Sterling manufactured ArmaLite AR-180 semi-automatic rifle. MLW
