Springfield M1 Garand "Tanker" semi automatic rifle. Receiver made June 1944, with typical markings. Springfield barrel dated "1-44". Springfield marked bolt and operating rod. Winchester marked trigger group. Barrel and gas assembly were shortened to "Tanker" lengths by an unknown gunsmith. The front sight ears were ground off. Blade front sight and adjustable peep rear. Metal components retain their original parkerized finish. Stock has been varnished, with checkering added to the wrist. A rubber butt pad has been added in favor of the typical metal butt plate. Includes green web sling (undated). CONDITION: Metal retains 80% of its original parkerized finish with general wear and handling marks. Stock has dings, scratches and dents. Bore is frosted with good overall rifling. Muzzle gauges at a 3, throat at a 2. Mechanically fine. Sling has light wear. JWA
