November 17 & 18, 2021 Extraordinary Firearms
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/17/2021
Extremely scarce and desirable Australian Owen machine gun parts and original crate. Outstanding barrel, bolt with extractor, mainspring, lower assembly with handgrip, buttstock assembly and 2 original magazines. Also included is an original Owen machine gun shipping crate still with original paint and stenciling, “CHESTS OWEN MACHINE CARBINE MK I/I”. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance of parts is near excellent original lustrous blue finish on barrel and lower assembly with extremely fine to near excellent hard bakelite handgrip and vertical foregrip. Hardware of buttstock assembly is a grey patina with the buttstock wood very good. Serial numbers of these different assemblies are non-matching. 2 magazines have lustrous blue finish with remnants of green paint in evidence. Wood crate retains its inserts, carrying handles and 2 shades of original green paint. One of the pins which secure the top latch on one end is not present, but otherwise this crate is completely serviceable. Even the diagram inside the lid is intact and legible. The Owen machine gun is a very popular yet unfortunately scarce gun in the United States. Bore of barrel is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine bolt. Mechanics of lower assembly are fine. This lot, especially with its fine condition barrel, and bolt are something that the current Owen machine gun owner should snap up as spares. If someone out there has a registered deactivated gun that needs these parts, or hopes to find one someday, these parts are a “Holy Grail” of a find. Don’t miss this opportunity. JWK 2021-11-056
