Type 99 light machine gun manufactured at the Nagoya arsenal in August of 1944. The right side of the receiver bears Nagoya's arsenal logo followed by Kanji characters stipulating the model designation above the serial number and date code of "19.8". Small Kanji inspection stamps are present all around. Features include a blue finish, 21 - 5/8" chrome-lined barrel with spiral cooling fins, cone flash suppressor, bayonet lug, bipod, blade front sight, adjustable drum rear sight, as well as a hardwood buttstock, pistol grip, and carrying handle. All numbers are matching with the exception of the magazine, which is unmarked. This example is accompanied by an unmarked magazine featuring a round counter. CONDITION: Very good overall, with metal components retaining large amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish and exhibiting some minor areas of wear and a few spots of cleaned oxidation. Bore is bright and exhibits fair to good rifling throughout. Stock and pistol grip show some scattered marks from handling and storage, with the buttplate showing several fair sized dings. Carrying handle is bent slightly downward and bears a few small losses on either end of the handle, with a more sizeable loss at the top/center of the handle, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Flash suppressor bears moderate oxidation all around, but still retains large amounts of its arsenal blue finish. Magazine shows areas of cleaned pitting all around. A very attractive and high condition example of an Imperial Japanese Type 99 light machine gun manufactured during history's greatest conflict. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. MLW
