German World War II Heer M42 helmet marked "ET64" for the maker "Eisenhuttenwerk Thale", in a shell size of 64. Shell exterior retains 65-70% of its era applied rough gray-green paint, with freckling, and heavy dirt and dust. No decal is present. A US style helmet net is attached to the helmet and is tucked under the rim, and between the liner band and the liner. It was clearly attached during WWII, and has been undisturbed since. The net exhibits rust stains from being in contact with the rim and rivets, as well as breaks from being on the rim, and flat spots on the top and other points of contact when the helmet is placed down. Interior retains approximately 75% of its untouched smooth blue-gray finish, with dust and freckling. Light streaks in the crown appear to be from blood. Original zinc liner band is present and appears untouched. Liner has heavy damage (three tongues are missing), is very dark from blood damage, with heavy staining, dryness and flaking around its rim. Drawstring is missing. A chinstrap exhibiting the same wear as the liner is present and attached over the rim, and has not been disturbed since the war. An untouched and rare example of a combat helmet with an era applied net. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. WEZ
