German World War II late war M38 Fallschirmjager helmet marked "CKL66" for "Eisenhuttenwerk Thale" in a shell size of "66" with a lot number of "4237". Shell exterior retains 75-80% of its late war slate gray paint with light to moderate freckling and scattered marks. Interior retains approximately 90% of its slate gray paint with freckling. Ventilated slotted aluminum bolts are on the side with slotted steel bolts on the back. All 4 bolts retain both inner nuts in the correct arrangement. Size "55" light tan leather liner has light wear, and is correctly marked "Kopfweite: Gr. 55", "Stahlhelm - Gr. 66", "Baumuster: Heisler. Berlin C2" and "Hersteller: F.W. Muller". Zinc liner band with hard foam rubber pads are present, as well as its crown pad. Fallschirmjager chinstrap assembly is intact with light wear and a "PYRM 4" snap. This untouched FJ helmet is configured exactly as most other late war examples in slate gray should be: bolt arrangement, maker marked liner, etc. This helmet was brought home, with a number of other items being offered, by a US WWII veteran who served as a 1st Lt. in the 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, and there is a photo of this helmet. See also lot numbers 3225, 3226, and others. CONDITION: Overall excellent. PROVENANCE: Lt. Robert A. Bonner Collection. WEZ
