German World War II Luftwaffe M40 single decal helmet marked "Q64" for the maker "F.W. Quist", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "T813". Shell exterior retains 80-85% of its era applied rough blue-gray paint, with freckling, dust, spots (oil?), and light scratches. The Luftwaffe decal is 90+%, with its era-applied lacquer. Interior retains 90+% of its untouched smoother blue-gray, with dust and freckling. Original zinc liner band is present and appears untouched. Rivets are untouched. Liner is complete, in a light tan color, size marked "56" with light staining, dryness and flaking around its rim. Original drawstring is present, but chinstrap is missing. The helmet has "To Niley Nelson, From Bob Bonner, 1/LT Inf. 26th, 1st Div" written on the liner in ink. He was the veteran who brought home some of the items which are featured in this catalog, and there is a photo of this helmet. CONDITION: Overall excellent. PROVENANCE: Lt. Robert A.
