German World War II Heer M40 tri-color helmet marked "Q64" for the maker "F.W. Quist", in a shell size of 64, with a lot number of "DN334". Shell has a 3-color spray camouflage (collectors refer to this style as "Normandy" camo) applied in tan, green, and red brown; and applied in that order. The standard color used for German armor from 1943 onwards. Camo paint is 70-75% with scattered scratches. The outline of the Heer decal is visible under the camouflage paint, and that area is also chipped away. Interior retains 85+% of its untouched gray-green, with dust and freckling. A faint crown stamp is visible. Original zinc liner band is present and appears untouched. Rivets are untouched. Liner has damage on one tongue, is in a medium tan color, size marked "57" with moderating staining, dryness and flaking around its rim. Drawstring is missing. Chinstrap with aluminum fittings is attached with medium to heavy wear, cracking, and dryness. The helmet was brought home by the WWII US veteran from the 26th Infantry Regiment (1st Infantry Division). CONDITION: Overall very good. PROVENANCE: Lt. Robert A. Bonner Collection. WEZ
