G3S semi-automatic rifle manufactured by FMP (Fabrica Militar de Portugal) with HK machinery under license from Heckler & Koch. The left side of the receiver is stamped "G3S FMP 002178" over the date "1/89", with a PARS International import stamp present on the right. Safety selector switch is marked "S" and "F". Bolt carrier is stamped "FMP 11/88", with the bolt being stamped "FMP 3/84". Features include a phosphate finish, 18" barrel, flash hider, standard HK pattern front & rear sights, as well as a green polymer forend, pistol grip, and buttstock. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, trigger housing, and buttstock socket, with the bolt and bolt carrier matching via an electro-penciled inscription. Rifle is accompanied by a wood case containing 2 magazines, a sling, cleaning brush, rubber eyecup, and manual, all for an accurized G3 rifle. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the overwhelming amount of their original phosphate finish, exhibiting a couple of minor areas of silvering and a few small marks overall from handling and storage. Mirror bore, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. Polymer furniture is excellent overall. Wood case shows some exterior wear, but is otherwise fine. Proving to be a quality made and reliable battle rifle, Portugal's G3S rifles were heavily exported to Africa, where they saw extensive use with almost every faction across the continent. Few examples were imported into the US prior to the 1989 import ban, making these non-"X" marked rifles sought after among collectors today. MLW
