Circa 2002. A .470 Nitro Express big bore safari rifle with 23 - 1/2" blacked steel barrels. Barrels are fit with a smooth concave rib, machined quarter rib, extractor, 1 standing leaf sight with red line marker and 1 folding leaf. Quarter rib is tapped for scope. Front sight is ramped engraved and with a brass tipped blade sight. Barrels also engraved with scrolls and gold line engraved panels near breech. Left barrel with safety instructions and reads "KRIEGHOFF INT... OTISVILLE, PA". Bottom rib fit with eye for sling loop. The silver-grey patina side plated boxlock action is nicely adorned with tight fine scrolls, chiseled vines on walls and fences, gold-lined scroll surrounds lions in brush on left, leopard on top lever, cape buffalo in field on right, elephant in field at bottom. "KRIEGHOFF CLASSIC" in gold and in banner. Double triggers with front being hinged are protected by a scroll engraved trigger guard. Top lever is also engraved with scroll and is checkered. Safe slide is deeply stippled. Engraving by "A. Marbach" as signed beneath cape buffalo. Beautiful reddish-brown walnut stock with smoky marbling has been built with 2-panel checkered pistol grip, beaded cheekpiece, sling stud, and is finished by a brown rubber Decelerator pad. Beavertail Schnabel forend with matched checkering and tight floral engraved Deeley-styled latch release. Rifle lives in a Krieghoff/Americase. CONDITION: Very good. Barrels retain most of their most likely recolored black. Rifling is very good. Action is good and triggers are crisp. Stock with handling marks and forend is good also. Case is very good with only some light handling marks. CP
