Developed after the conclusion of World War II, the M4 Survival Rifle was developed from Harrington & Richardson's M265 sporting rifle. These survival rifles were issued with soft point ammunition, so that in the event an aircraft was downed, the aircrew could forage for food. The left side of the lower assembly is stamped "RIFLE. SURVIVAL. CAL .22. M4 (HORNET CARTRIDGE)/ U.S. PROPERTY", with "HARRINGTON AND RICHARDSON ARMS CO./ WORCESTER, MASS. U.S.A." on the left side of the receiver. Features include a parkerized finish, 14" barrel, blade front sight, Lyman peep rear sight, wire pistol grip, as well as a retractable wire buttstock. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their original arsenal applied parkerized finish, exhibiting some superficial marks overall from handling and storage. Bore is bright, exhibiting well defined rifling throughout. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS A SHORT BARRELED RIFLE. MLW
