Circa late 1930s-early 1940s Boeing 314 Clipper aluminum desk model. The Boeing 314 Clipper was an American long range flying boat produced by Boeing during the pre-World War II years from 1938-1941. Pan American had requested a flying boat capable of long range flights that could compete with the airline's trans-Pacific Martin M-130. 12 Clippers were built and used until their retirement in 1948. Constructed of Aluminum, this model is rather plain and devoid of decals or insignia but is mounted on a Pan American World Airways globe base. The Clipper is unmarked and measures approximately 6" tall with a 11" wingspan and a 6" base. The clipper is missing all 4 of its propellers which were most likely clear plastic simulating rotation. Rough texture. Model is slightly loose on the stand and produces a slight wobble. A nice early small-scale model which would compliment the desk of an aviation enthusiast.
