BM59 machine gun manufactured by Beretta and imported by Springfield Armory. The BM59 served as the main battle rifle of the Italian Army from 1959-1990, with the platform retaining more of the M1 Garand's action and design than that of its contemporary, the M14. The rear of the receiver is stamped "P. BERETTA / 7.62mm BM 59 / Gardon V.T. / Italia" over the serial number "X000157", with "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" stamped on the left side. Fire selector lever is stamped "A" and "S". Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish, while the stock is comprised of wood and features a grooved brown plastic pistol grip. Additional features include a quick detach grenade launcher muzzle device, grenade launcher sight, black anodized aluminum bipod, as well as a side-folding skeleton buttstock. This example is accompanied by 5 additional 20-round magazines. This is a select fire machine gun. NFA Registry indicates "Springfield Armory" in the Manufacturer/Importer block. CONDITION: Excellent, with metal components retaining the majority of their original factory applied parkerized finish, exhibiting some superficial marks from handling and storage, some mild edge wear, and some wear through to silvering on the operating rod from cycling of the action. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well defined lands and grooves throughout. Stock shows some scattered marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise fine. A very attractive example of Italy's equivalent of the M14. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4.
