Consignor states that he purchased this gun from a close dealer friend in 1981 and has never fired it. It has been in this military cosmoline grease since at least, or before 1981. This is an especially attractive high condition Auto Ordnance, West Hurley Model 1928 Thompson, with a coating of preservative grease throughout. Additional accessories include an M-16 style black web sling, an original tan military “NOBUCKL” sling, 3 30-round magazines, and 1 unmarked 50-round matte finish drum, also in cosmoline grease within an original cardboard shipping box. Electronic NFA registry indicates “AUTO ORDNANCE” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent grey/green matte finish on all metal parts including bullet logo (on top) Cutts compensator. Wood is near mint without any handling marks even under close inspection. This Thompson has a Cutts compensator and adjustable Lyman sights which were not included with the more cost effective M1 and M1A1 models. This cataloger would state that this gun is as near to mint as any such specimen he has ever seen, including the magazines. Bore has grease in it, as does the bolt. Mechanics are as one would expect with preservative grease in the action, although bolt does move and lock to the rear just fine. This is a select fire machine gun. If one wants to invest in a near mint in the grease Thompson, this is the gun you have been looking for. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-4-04.
