Manufactured in 1870s by Jerome Secor in Bridgeport, CT. The action is very intricate for a toy of this era. Crafted of lead, iron, and wood. The figure is dressed in original cotton and wool fabric. When toy is wound and activated, figure strums banjo with right hand, taps right foot, and head sways back and forth. Only a few minor chips to head and banjo. Clothes are slightly dirty. Wooden base retains 85% of original directional label. One of the finer examples known. Provenance: From the decedents of the original owner’s in a New England estate.

Condition: (Excellent - Near Mint).
