Lot consists of: (A) US Model 1840 "Wristbreaker" cavalry saber in standard configuration with curved, single fullered blade. Unmarked ricasso. Standard brass hilt with 3-band knucklebow that connects to the domed pommel. Wood grip wrapped with leather that is grooved and adorned with strands of twisted brass wire. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade exhibits scattered areas of pitting and freckling. Nice patina on hilt with slight areas of leather loss on grip. Scabbard exhibits a chocolate patina with scattered dents. (B) US Navy M1860 cutlass in standard configuration with slightly curved blade and marked "Made by / Ames Mfg. Co / Chicopee / Mass" enclosed within an unraveled scroll, and "1861". Standard brass cup guard that protects the wood grip which is nicely grooved and wrapped with leather. Complete with leather and riveted scabbard. CONDITION: Bright blade with somewhat faint ricasso markings. Guard exhibits a pleasing patina. Scabbard exhibits typical surface cracking and remains firm. (C) US Navy M1860 cutlass in standard configuration with slightly curved blade and marked "Made by / Ames Mfg. Co / Chicopee / Mass" enclosed within an unraveled scroll, and "U.S.N. / 1863". Standard brass cup guard that protects the wood grip which is nicely grooved and wrapped with leather. Complete with leather scabbard. CONDITION: Bright blade with somewhat faint ricasso markings, scattered freckling, and evidence of sharpening. Dull tip. Guard exhibits a pleasing patina with light dents. Scabbard exhibits typical surface cracking.
