Merkel Model 132 double rifle made by Gebruder Merkel, Suhl, Germany in 1931. Blued 25 - 3/4" round Krupp Laufstahl barrels in 8x57JR with full matted sight plain rib, matted quarter rib, ramped front sight, extractors, and marked "W. WEISGERBER St. WENDEL". Boxlock scalloped coin finished full game scene engraved action with Hirsch and floral pattern engraving, bottom marked in semi-circle pattern "SUHLER WAFFENWERKE / GEBRUDER MERKEL SUHL". Action has double set triggers, blued and engraved steel trigger guard, cocking indicators, and tang safety. Checkered walnut pistol grip stock with cheekpiece, horn buttplate, and engraved steel grip cap. Matching checkered walnut splinter latch release forearm with ebony tip inlay. CONDITION: 95% original blue with light edge wear and some small surface pitting near end of bores, 95% original action finish, and 95% original varnish with light handling marks. Excellent bores and mechanics. A great handing rifle.
