Produced from 1880 to 1883 with around 5,000 rifles and carbines completed, the Remington-Keene saw only limited success. This example is in the configuration of the frontier rifles ordered by the United States Department of the Interior to arm tribal police in 1881, although this example does not bear government markings. Rifle features a rust blued 24" round barrel chambered in .45-70 with a full length magazine tube secured by a carbine band. Dovetailed blade front sight and ladder rear. Standard 1-piece walnut stock fitted with swing swivels and a carbine butt plate. CONDITION: Very fine overall. Significant amounts of factory applied blue is retained throughout with some areas drifting to patina. Traces of case colors retained on the hammer. Stock is very good showing light marks. Good bore with well defined rifling. Mechanically fine.
