SAR-48 Paratrooper select-fire machine gun manufactured by Springfield Armory. The left side of the receiver is stamped "S.A.R. - 48" over "7.62 MM". followed by the serial number "SF-1012". Right side of receiver bears Springfield's manufacturer information and reads "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY, GENESEO, IL. USA". Left side of receiver bears a Belgian "(Crown)/ H" controller proof above a Belgian Perron proof. Selector switch is marked "S". "R", and "A". Major metal components exhibit a gray parkerized finish, with the stock assembly exhibiting a smooth black anodized finish. Handguard, carrying handle, and pistol grip are comprised of black polymer. Additional features include a 20" chrome lined barrel, muzzle brake, adjustable gas regulator, as well as a dual aperture peep sight. Sling swivel are mounted with an original green nylon web sling. Israeli marked magazine. This already scarce example is accompanied by an original unnumbered and unmarked Springfield Armory box, containing its cardboard inserts, as well as 8 additional 20-round unmarked magazines. CONDITION: Exceptional, with metal components retaining virtually all of their original factory applied parkerized finish, exhibiting a mild dragline at the selector lever from operation, as well as a few minor superficial marks from storage and handling. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting moderate factory grease and retaining sharp, well defined lands and grooves throughout. Polymer furniture is extremely fine, with a few minor superficial marks from storage and handling. Box shows a couple of tears on one end, but is otherwise sturdy and serviceable. Sought after in just rarity alone, the discerning collector would find this to be an extremely difficult example to upgrade from. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4.
