Circa 1925. A vintage London Best safari rifle chambered in the famous .375 H&H Flanged Magnum. This classic piece has been built with 26" chopper lump barrels. Barrels are nicely appointed with ejectors, filed spear point rib with 1 standing sight at 50/200 yards and 1 folding at 350 yards, raised spearpoint front blade sight with flip up night sight, and loop for sling at bottom rib. Rib reads ".375 MAGNUM". Barrels read "HOLLAND & HOLLAND", "98 NEW BOND STREET , LONDON". Barrel flats with traditional London proofs from early to mid 1920s. Flats also read with "375", "2.94"", "CORDITE", "54-300 MAX". Bottom of left barrel with "H&H". Bottom of both tubes with serial number "31051". The handsome bolstered sidelock frame with Holland & Holland's patented "Hand Detachment Lever" is engraved with Holland's traditional Royal scroll and with "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" in banner. Sidelock plates with gold line cocking indicators. The action is built with a hidden third fastener (Treble Grip), engraved top lever with checkered thumb piece, engraved and checkered safe slide, with "SAFE" in gold. Rifle is built with double triggers (front hinged) and auto-safe. Action bottom and top lever both read "ROYAL EJECTOR". Blacked scroll engraved trigger guard with right hand rolled edge extends to a long bottom strap, also scroll engraved, with the rifle's serial number "31051". Dark English walnut stock is fit with long engraved top strap, shadowline cheeckpiece, drop points, slender finely checkered pistol grip with steel engraved grip cap, cap box, gold oval with engraved "Y" with red and green accents, loop for sling, and finished with orange Silvers pad. Splinter forend with fine matched checkering, scroll engraved diamond shaped pin, case colored scroll engraved escutcheon, and Anson push button release. Iron metal with serial number and worn case colors. Rifle comes in a newer leather case with metal corners. CONDITION: Good. Barrels with good bores and tight on face. Barrels exterior has some discoloration, oxidation marks and handling marks mainly from storage. Action is sound. Ejectors operate well and triggers are good. Action edges with signs of oxidation. Stock is good with some handling marks. Forend is good also with handling marks. Case exterior is good and with some interior TLC required. Good hunting rifle.
