Lot consists of: (A) Japanese World War II civil defense helmet complete with its original woven wool liner and chinstrap. The helmet displays a period net with original paint. CONDITION: The helmet retains a generous amount of its original tan paint with scattered marks from wear and storage, as well as a few scattered dents. Missing a few rivets. The linter is nice and intact with wear to the leather sweatband. (B) Japanese WWII Type 98 Sun Helmet. The helmet has been painted white and green and displays a rising sun flag on the front, most likely embellished by a GI after scoring a souvenir. The liner is intact with sturdy hardware and features the original spec tags, one of which is named to "BURNS", probably the soldier who captured the helmet. CONDITION: The helmet retains its original shape which is nice since they are usually encountered with collapsed crown. There are a few scattered light dents with cracking to the period paint. Evident wear displayed on the interior with scattered stains. Nice intact chinstrap. A nice example of a GI bring back sun helmet.
