World War I Imperial German M16 camouflage helmet. The helmet is marked with size code "64" on the skirt next to the right chin strap lug. Interior crown is marked "PW 290". The helmet is nicely painted and features shades of green, brown, yellow, red, and white in a patch pattern with the colors separated by regulation finger-wide black stripes. The shell retains both of the extended ventilation lugs. The helmet also retains both of the rivets for the M91 chinstrap system. All 3 liner split pins remain in place including the correct thicker rear pin. The pins retain their original camouflage paint which matches the paint of the panels they are secured to. Interior of the helmet contains the correct 3-pad leather liner with steel retaining band which remains intact and dates this helmet to around 1917. All 6 of the liner string adjustment tabs are intact and do not exhibit any tears at the edges near the liner string. Missing leather chinstrap. The helmet retains a nice amount of its camouflage paint. There are scattered areas of paint loss which reveal surface rust, especially the crown. Paint exhibits scattered areas of fading. 2 of the liner pads have separated, and 1 is missing the cushion insert. Leather is a bit stiff. CONDITION: Good.
