An excellent example of a Royal Italian Army M33 helmet with impeccable US capture provenance. The helmet is identified to Lt. Col. Henry K. Kellogg by an old tag which is secured to the helmet's liner. Kellogg was the commanding officer of the 2nd Battalion, 19th Combat Engineer Regiment during World War II and acquired this helmet from an Italian coastal artillery fort on May 9, 1943. The tag reads "May 9, 1943-Coast artillery fort north of ruins of Carthage-on CAP CARTHAGE. Italian helmet picked up by Lieut Col. Henry K. Kellogg C.O. 2s Battalion 19th Engineer Combat Regiment". It is important to note that 2 German helmets captured by Kellogg were sold at Morphy Auctions during the April 11-13, 2023 Firearms and Militaria sale with the same type of tags affixed to the liner. Reference lots 3338 and 3339 for details. The helmet is in standard M33 configuration with 6th Engineer Regiment on front. Complete with original brown leather liner and green leather chinstrap. The helmet is in very good condition with scattered blemishes to the paint. Front insignia is slightly faded. Liner is very clean with little blemishes and remains supple. Chinstrap is in equal condition to liner. CONDITION: Very good+
