Closer in design to the M1 Garand than the United States M14, Beretta's BM59 filled the Italian military's need for a modernized select-fire battle rifle while taking advantage of the vast surplus of M1 Garand parts and components that remained in Europe after the conclusion of World War II. This example is stamped "P.BERETTA/ 7.62mm BM 59/ Gardone V.T./ Italia" above the serial number "X000221" on the top rear of the receiver, with "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY" marked on the left. Selector switch is marked "A" and "S". Metal components exhibit a parkerized finish, while the stock and handguard are comprised of solid wood. Additional features include a flash hider/grenade launcher adapter, grenade launcher sight, bipod, and an integral stripper clip guide. Complete with 1 additional 20-round magazine. NFA Registry lists "SPRINGFIELD ARMORY INC" in the manufacturer block and "BM59" in the model block. This is a select-fire machine gun. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory parkerized finish, exhibiting some minor edge wear, some scattered superficial marks, as well as some light wear from use. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibit some scattered dings and marks from handling and storage but is otherwise fine. A very attractive example of Italy's equivalent of the M14. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4.
