This MG 08/15 was manufactured and registered by Charles Erb using parts from several different guns and is non-matching. One can discern upon close inspection that the sideplate was cut and welded together and the entire gun refinished. The good news is that this gun retains the difficult-to-obtain drum hanger, steam port cover, and some bearing packing string. The other good news is this cataloger has little doubt that this gun will run well. It includes a reproduction steam hose with appropriate fitting to go on the steam port cover as well as an 8mm broken case extractor. It also includes a British Bren tripod fitted with adapters for the 08/15. Just the things for the machine gun enthusiast who wants to go out on the range and remain comfortable on the firing line. NFA Electronic registry indicates "ERB, CHARLES" in the manufacturer's block. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is near excellent blue refinish throughout. Water jacket has one slight ding on left side, which is only discernible upon close inspection. Water fill cap wooden thumbpieces are not present, but this does not affect functionality, and these could be reproduced should the new owner desire. Top cover/buttstock retention latch spring present but non-serviceable as one curled tip has broken away. Bipod retains most of its original paint. Steam port cover is extremely fine with good serviceable attachment prongs. Pistol grip and lightly sanded buttstock show typical dings and bruises but remain serviceable. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright, with evidence of firing. Lock and lock face very fine. Mechanics are extremely fine. This is a full-auto-only machine gun. A very attractive shooters package for someone who wants to enjoy the venerable Maxim machine gun right away. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
