Attractive original 1941 dated Vickers machine gun mount with cast "MOUNT. TRIPID. M. G. MK. IV." nomenclature on the side of the head with matching date "1941" on top of the head on the right side. "B.S. & Co" traverse dial present as well as attachment pins with chains. Classic green color with brass head and standard British pattern feet. Reproduction Vickers ammunition box hanger is included with this lot as well as a contemporary custom made wooden transit chest. CONDITION: Very fine repainted finish overall with attractive brass and steel traverse dial. Transit chest is sturdy and very serviceable. Quality mounts like this have seen increased demand in recent years due to the increasing numbers of semi-auto versions of classic World War II machine guns being manufactured. Simple supply and demand economics coupled with inflation indicates these mounts will continue to be in demand.
