Attractive example of a Victorian era Royal Scots Officer’s green cloth service helmet. Green was used by light infantry and rifle regiments, and these helmets are rarely encountered. Nice brass trim around front and rear visors. The helmet is complete with correct fittings and spike together with an excellent The Royal Scots Victorian Queen's crowned multi-piece helmet plate and leather and velvet backed chin strap. The interior features its high quality leather sweat band with synthetic burgundy lining. All spike pins are in place and hardware appears original to helmet. An original carrying tin is used to store the helmet and is complete with a period brass lock and key. The tin is nicely japanned on interior. Exterior was excellently restored by the consigner. The helmet is excellent with almost no blemishes to the felt body. Hardware with nice patina. Interior exhibits scattered stains and blemishes from light wear. Tin is very good with scattered blemishes. The helmet and tin would make a wonderful display. CONDITION: Very good.
