Originally introduced in 1938, Beretta's Model 38 lineage of submachine guns saw extensive usage in World War II and proved popular amongst Allied and Axis soldiers throughout the war. This example is stamped with the serial number "I/ 1839" over the top rear of the receiver, with "F" and "S" on the left at the safety lever. Metal components are blued, while the stock is comprised of solid walnut. Buttplate is not present. Receiver end cap is a period replacement. Matching numbers are present on the receiver, barrel shroud, and buttstock. This example is accompanied by its original 1968 amnesty registration form, as well as 1977, 1978, and 1999 dated Commonwealth of Virginia certificates of registration. NFA registry lists "BERETTA, ITALY" in the manufacturer block and "1938A" in the model block. CONDITION: Metal components retain fair to good amounts of their original arsenal blue finish, exhibiting wear and thinning overall that shows through to pleasant gray and brown patinas, with wear patterns being consistent with period use. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Stock exhibits scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, but is otherwise fine. An always desirable example of a Beretta 38A submachine gun, accompanied by its original amnesty registration paperwork. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE.
