MP40 submachine gun manufactured at the ERMA arsenal during World War II. The receiver tube bears the serial number "1891/ m" above "(Eagle)/ 280" and "(Eagle)/ WaA254" waffenamts. Lower assembly is of early Steyr 1943 production and is stamped "MP40/ bnz. 43" above the serial number "6888". Metal components are blued, while the furniture is comprised of brown bakelite. Matching numbers are on the receiver, rear sight assembly, barrel collar, barrel, and front sight hood. Bolt and firing pin/telescoping mainspring match themselves. Lower assembly and stock match themselves. 1 32-round magazine is present. This example is accompanied by its original 1968 amnesty registration paperwork and 1977, 1978, and 1999 dated Commonwealth of Virginia registration certificates. NFA registry lists "GERMANY" in the manufacturer block and "MP40" in the model block. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original arsenal finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning that show through to pleasing gray and brown patinas. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Bakelite furniture exhibits scattered marks from handling and storage but is otherwise fine. A very attractive and collectible example of this iconic machine gun model. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC. JWK 2023-9-64
