Here is an unusual find. This is an originally unnumbered "N.E. Westinghouse Co" sideplate with an added IRS number in the space where the serial number would normally have been applied at the factory. This sideplate is on a Browning 1919A4 Israeli parts set as markings on top cover and bolt indicate. Bolt is marked "7.62" and this gun is .308. Electronic NFA registry indicates “UNKNOWN” as the manufacturer and the model as "M1917". The barrel and overall lengths are listed in the electronic registry. CONDITION: Overall finish and appearance is near excellent smooth gray parkerized refinish upon remanufacture. Steel trunnion is near mint. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a full-auto only machine gun. The indicators are, based upon the electronic registry information and the fact that this piece is registered with an IRS number, that this was an unnumbered, unassembled sideplate at the time of original registration and needed an IRS number. Also that it is likely, yet not guaranteed, that this will transfer as Curio and Relic eligible. If someone has a Browning Model 1917 parts kit and desires to fit it onto a correctly registered sideplate, this is an opportunity not likely to come along again to acquire a sideplate that perfectly meets your needs.
