The G series were imported by Browning between 1959 and 1963, and while originally cleared to import as semi-automatic rifles, the ATF backtracked and reclassified them as machine guns due to ease of conversion. Those that were already in the country were grandfathered in, but further importation was banned; this example is listed by number in the ATF C&R list as an exempt example. Left side of the receiver marked "F.A.L. cal. 7.62", right side with "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE_HERSTAL BELGIQUE". G series serial number ahead of magazine well, and matches bolt carrier, bolt; barrel unnumbered, second serial number "B195147" electropenciled behind pistol grip. Adjustable front and rear sights. Metal forearm with folding bipod. Ribbed carry handle, solid wood buttstock. Accessories include wooden forearm marked "154" on interior, and 4 additional magazines. CONDITION: Metal is very good, retaining the vast majority of the factory finish, with some handling marks and evidence of use throughout, most notable discoloration under ejection port and high edge wear. Normal silver line between selector positions. Mechanically fine, bore has strong rifling with some mild frosting throughout. Some light verdigris at gas port. Spare forearm is very good with no cracks or chips; magazines are good with areas of silvering from use throughout. A good example of a scarce rifle.
