Exceedingly attractive Colt 1921/28 Navy overstamp Thompson with "diamond logo" Cutts Compensator. No information listed in Gordon Herigstad's serial number listing of serial numbers and histories. The finish on this gun is absolutely beautiful, and it is a difficult call, but the faintness of the "JHB" markings, together with some other barely discernible indicators, compel this cataloger to conclude this refinished after getting second and third opinions. The quality of the work is fabulous. This gun has 1928 internal parts. Serial numbers are matching. Lettering is clear. 1 high condition original 1920-1921 patent date 20 round magazine is included. Electronic NFA registry indicates "COLT" as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent deep lustrous blue refinish with only a little loss of finish at the stock attachment points. Wood is near excellent with only the slightest of handling marks. Metal stock hardware does not appear to be refinished. Bore is fabulous, shiny and bright. Bolt is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. The 1921/28 Navy overstamp guns are in a special league all their own, highest quality fit and finish with appeal to both the commercial and military gun collector. Even calling out this gun as refinished, it looks so good, and it is so desirable as an example of its kind it will certainly attract a discerning collector. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-12-12
