Made by Springfield Arsenal in 1940. Blued 24" "SA" marked steel barrel dated "11-40" with correct front sight and late style rear sight. Blued finish receiver with "SA" marked bolt and milled trigger group. "SA" marked uncut op-rod. Standard configuration walnut stock with "R.A." rebuild stamp and encircled "P" grip stamp. "SA" marked gas tube with single slot plug. CONDITION: 98% overall arsenal metal finish, gas tube shows some fading gray and pits. Sanded and refinished stock with handling marks. Rough bore with visible rifling and roughness with ME of 3 and TE of 7+ with good mechanics. If only it could talk.
