The HK41, not to be confused with the G41, was developed for Bundeswehr as reservists were not allowed to own select fire rifles, but could own semi-automatic ones; the HK 41, thus, would allow the reservists to have a gun they could practice with at home. They also proved popular in the United States, and a very small number were imported prior to the Gun Control Act of 1968, which caused them to be redesigned, as the original design was easy to convert to full auto by swapping out the trigger pack. This is one of those very early examples with a push pin lower and paddle magazine release. The trigger pack has a matching "615" serial number matching the balance of the gun, and Santa Fe Divison Golden State Arms rollmark. A small button has been added to prevent the gun from being able to rotatable beyond semi-automatic. Clip-on brass deflector, diopter drum rear sight, hooded post front sight, carrying handle, telescoping A3 stock with concave butt and slimline forearm with the so-called "heavy" bipod mounted just ahead of the magazine well (both extremely rare parts in their own rights), HK flash hider, and 2 point sling. Bolt carrier date 4/66, bolt head dated 1/66; appropriate "615" matching serial number on bottom of both. Left side of magazine well with model designation, serial number, and 4/66 date. CONDITION: Overall excellent, retaining virtually all of the HK parkerization and enamel finishes on appropriate parts, with some minor handing marks and minor silvering marks from handling and use. Mechanically fine, bore with strong rifling and some mild frosting. Trigger pack with silvering between selector points, somewhat rough from the conversion. Bipod and stock retract and fold appropriately, forearm has a couple chips from feet. This is an exceptionally scarce Heckler and Koch with some extremely desirable parts.
