Built by National Postal Meter between November 1943 and June 1943. Originally, this receiver was made by Underwood, but, according to government specifications, the original maker was lined-out, and "N" was stamped below the serial number to indicate by whom receiver was used. These lined-out receivers were obtained when companies ran short on parts or had production issues. Standard military finish 18" barrel stamped with "Underwood" and dated "8-43 / (Flaming Bomb)" and correct unmarked barrel band with front swivel. Standard early style flip rear sight with "N" marked milled front sight. "N" marked trigger group with unmarked magazine release and unmarked push-button safety. Unmarked recoil shield. Blued flat bolt and the slide are marked "N". 1-piece slide spring. High wood hardwood stock with "Trimble TN" mark in sling well, no cut for M-2 switch, "I" cut oil slot, and "NPM/FJA/ with Ordnance Wheel inspector marking on the right side. "TN" marked 2-rivet top wood. Complete with a NOS wrapped 15-round magazine, "IS" marked oiler, and web sling. CONDITION: Overall 95% remaining arsenal finish. Stock has visible markings but is lightly cleaned. Good bore with ME of 2+ and crisp mechanics. There are no visible import marks.
