High condition specimen of a Colt 1921 Thompson without a Cutts Compensator (actually a 1921A model). Gordon Herigstad's serial number listing of serial numbers and histories indicates, "Lawrence Heiskell collection, Virginia 1997". This gun retains its original 1921 internal parts and correctly "anchor" marked original buttstock. Typical markings on receiver with visible serial numbers matching. Crisp clear lettering and sharp edges throughout. 4 lustrous blue 20-round "Bridgeport" magazines, a chrome plated "New York, NY" 50-round drum, and original blue felt lined hard case with 20 1/2" brass cleaning rod and reproduction tin parts box and oiler is included. Electronic NFA registry indicates “THOMPSON” as the manufacturer. PROVENANCE: From the estate of a very discerning and advanced collector. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent deep lustrous blue original finish with very slight loss of finish at the stock attachment points, and a little thinning to the finish at the actuator slot and at the high edges of the lower receiver. Fantastic unsanded, unmessed with wood with very slight handling marks. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. One of the best of the 1921A model Thompsons to come to auction. In this auction we have several fabulous Thompsons. Suitable for the most advanced and discerning collector. The original hard case included with this lot significantly adds to the value, more than making up for any perceived shortcomings of the chrome plated magazine. Hard case is near excellent condition, among the best of the specimens out there. Felt lining inside the case is faded but not torn. Still quite attractive. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO & RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2023-12-76
