The very finest original condition original case for the Colt 1921 Thompson this cataloger has ever encountered. Typical “Eagle Lock Co.” latches on the front with “The Books Trunk Co” metal placard on the lid. Interior is fitted to take a 50-round drum on the left side, four 20-round magazines, the buttstock in the back compartment, and the gun itself in the forward compartment. A compensator equipped models fits just fine. PROVENANCE: From the personal and advanced collection of Dr. Jim Watson of Scottsdale, Arizona. CONDITION: Overall appearance is extremely fine, approaching near excellent with a little brassing to the reinforced corners, with some discoloration and some patina to the plating of the latches. Interior is in commensurate condition with no tears. One can see the outline of where a 50 round drum was emplaced. The leather bottoms of the handle are intact but showing some wear. A tremendous find for the discerning Thompson collector. Unlikely to find a better condition specimen of an original hard case. JWK 2024-05-088.
