Highly sought after Colt commercial model 1919 Browning Automatic Rifle (essentially the Colt commercial version of the 1918 B.A.R). In fact most people would call this a 1918 B.A.R, as it fires only semi-auto and full auto. The receiver of this specimen was pretty significantly pitted at some point, and the barrel, and no doubt most, if not all, of the other parts have been replaced and/or refinished. No marks are discernable anywhere on the barrel. Top of receiver marking are faint, but still legible. No military proofmarks discernable. Added flash hider and bipod, and third model (best) adjustable gas regulator present. The specimen has the very desirable checkered wood forend and wood buttstock. This lot also includes an original U.S.G.I web sling, and original U.S.G.I. green canvas zippered carrying case. Four 20-round magazines are also included with this lot, one lustrous blue and the others parkerized finish. Electronic NFA registry indicates “COLT” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent professional high polish refinish over noticeable pitting on the receiver and other metal parts with the exception of the flash hider, bipod, gas regulator, and carrying handle. Bore is near excellent, shiny and bright. Bolt face is extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp and smooth. This is a select-fire machine gun. The B.A.R. is one of the most fun, and distinctive machine guns to take to the range. This specimen is well set up for recreational shooting. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-30
