Very attractive original black enamel finished British Mk II Sten with original WWII sling and 6 black painted magazines. Top of magazine housing retains clear “STEN MK II” while the underside of housing has the serial number and “J.L. & Co Ltd” manufacturer’s marking. Bottom of action cover is “S106”. One soft carrying case is also included with this lot. The Sten MK II was manufactured in great numbers for World War II and is a very simple and straightforward machine gun made mostly of metal stampings. It was far less costly and quicker to produce than the previous models such as the Lanchester. The Sten machine gun found its way to every part of the British Empire, and to other countries as a reliable and compact machine gun which took commonly available ammunition. Electronic NFA registry indicates “STEN” as the manufacturer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is very good to extremely fine original black enamel painted finish turned a uniform gray patina at the perforated shroud near the rear of the barrel, with much more finish on the magazine housing and receiver tube. The high edges have a mixture of brown and gray patina. Magazine are repainted over light pitting. Web sling is original WWII marked and near excellent. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. Bolt face extremely fine to near excellent. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. Just a really nice specimen of a very popular recreational machine gun, which also has collectors appeal. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE. JWK 2024-05-053.
